An Interview With Leadership Learners
Fatma Guneri
Paper Presentation in a Themed Session
Regarding leadership skills, in the Catholic University of Lille students with bachelor's degrees in economics and management follow the Leadership classes in the third year of faculty. At the beginning of this class, they’ve introduced the definition and theories of leadership. Afterward, students did many exercises to develop their leadership skills in practice. 19 students who followed this class have answered the questions during a job interview simulation (written Question-Answers) in the classroom. One part of the interview was dedicated to leadership. After collecting all the answers each student made some commentaries about another students’ answer on an excel table. The objective is to see how students evaluate others’ views of the leadership. The research question is what leadership skills students might have or improve after following the leadership classes?

Globalization, Internationalization and Organizational Change
Gabriel Rached
Paper Presentation in a Themed Session
The purpose of this research is to discuss within the contemporary scenario, the role of international cooperation and, overall, how to implement coordinated policies by analyzing the current international institutions framework. How could organizations proceed in fostering development processes and reducing inequalities inter and intra countries? On the other hand, taking the discussion to the institutional platform and its reflects in the Global Governance sphere, what can be done in terms of international cooperation and by which path it should be pursued so that a better result could be achieved in terms of development and reducing inequalities on global scope? Analyzing new agreements for international cooperation, new economic development strategies, insertion into a new dimension of the international division of labor, and also the adherence to new institutional arrangements for financing development, represent key issues to understand contemporary scenario in which this debate has become essential. This allows a critical reflection on the conditions of the present, the past constraints, and the future possibilities, trying to understand the consequences and effects of this range of transformations. In this sense, by adopting the perspective of changes in organizations culture in a globalized world, debating the role of new international institutions and the conduct of policy makers, understanding how these dynamics affect the regions across the globe, also bringing to discussion the relevance of revisiting and checking new possibilities in terms of Global Governance to face ongoing challenges related to recovering processes and combating inequality(ies), are themes addressed by this research.
Examining How Hospitals Introduce Artificial Intelligence to Achieve Healthcare Transformation
Chen Hao Huang
Paper Presentation in a Themed Session
Artificial intelligence (AI), which is reshaping the resource landscape by detecting patterns and structuring new rules within the medical industry, has been recognized as the latest disruptive innovation wave in the healthcare industry. However, that has also caused a contradiction, which is between the quantificationism logic and medical professionalism logic. To combine co-existing logics within a healthcare organization, this study adopts a hybrid perspective as a theoretical lens to explore the balancing mechanisms. Specifically, we conducted our research through an in-depth case study of Taiwanese healthcare organization's intelligent healthcare enactment practices. This research delivers a practical-oriented hybrid balancing model with multi-dimension mechanisms to tackle dual institutional logics, including valuable data standard establishment, securable information interface design, and dynamic intelligent service development. This study extends our understanding of intelligent hospital development by examining the balance between AI techniques and professional medical service.

Workplace Diversity and Organizational Effectiveness
Mansi Babbar,
Reetesh K. Singh
Paper Presentation in a Themed Session
The globalization, migration of people for better opportunities, economic transformation, and socio-cultural changes has brought diverse people together under the same roof. The changing demographic dynamics in workforce necessitate the organizations to re-design their cultures and re-think their values, norms, and belief systems to accommodate and accept diverse identities with diverse perspectives. In this light, the present study endeavors to explore the impact of workplace diversity on organizational effectiveness and aims to identify direct and indirect consequences of diversity at the workplace. The study employs a bibliometric analysis and a documentary research approach to extensively review the literature, identify gaps, and develop a conceptual model. The review findings propose an indirect relationship between workplace diversity and organizational effectiveness via three mediating variable i.e. job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and performance. The proposed conceptual model presents an opportunity for future researchers to empirically test it and share their findings. The results may be relevant for management, particularly the human resource managers for enhanced understanding of the impact of diversity on individual and organizational outcomes. Additionally, this study has significant implications for managers who may consider devising appropriate strategies to leverage opportunities associated with diverse individuals working together and eliminate any friction and conflicts resulting because of such diversity.

Employees as Lifelong Learners: Characteristics and Promotion in Thai Organizations
Kotchaworn Chuymanee
Paper Presentation in a Themed Session
This qualitative study offers multiple perspectives on the lifelong learner characteristics of employees in Thailand Sustainability Investment Companies and how the organizations promote lifelong learning effectively. Fourteen interviewees of lifelong learning scholars, university lecturers and practitioners in the human resource development field, and experienced employees from Thailand sustainability investment companies were interviewed individually. The findings are presented in two aspects. The first aspect is the lifelong learner characteristics which consist of three main components: attributes, knowledge, and skills. The attributes of a lifelong learner are a growth mindset, grit, curiosity, eagerness to learn and unlearn, openness to change, and searching for possibilities. The knowledge of lifelong learners is current and future career-related and life-related such as financial literacy, digital literacy, physical and psychological health. The skills of lifelong learners include knowing themselves, self-directed learning, and learning how to learn. In addition, the second aspect is the organization support which mainly relates to formal and informal learning systems, learning organization and knowledge management, career planning and development, leadership support, recognitions, and rewards. Last, the results also provide suggestions for further implications in the organizational context; including educating employees on why and how to create personal lifelong learning goals and plans, providing more engaging blended learning activities and rewards, promoting learning ambassadors among employees, and sponsorship of leaders and executives.
