Assessment for Learning MOOC’s Updates

Inteligence tests / EIQ

Testing knowledge is of cause tests like SAT or AP tests, or end of the year, or quizzes are given to students to verify what a student understood, from presented recent material or past material, it could be a formative or summative assessment, but doesn't imply on students ability just current knowledge. Intelligence test implies on humans' ability, and consequently opportunity for a serious negative recommendation. As mentioned in the  Video, Context of Education Evaluation and Research, the context of education does provide, reasons for assessment, evaluation, and data collection. Video Testing for Inequalities, starts  with asking the question "What do we measure in assessment?" So it is clear, that one has to understand the scope of the problem, and details, to understand the current situation with IQ tests.

I like positive psychology and the idea that if a human wants to work hard at it, one can achieve unbelievable things when motivated. Consequently, the idea of intelligence tests seems completely inappropriate, because it doesn't provide recommendations on what could be done if there is a learning difficulty. It seems to be a bandage on the problem of some human difference from nature or nurtures' perspective, when opportunities to get married and live with humans from different cultures are minimal and expensive, as well as incoherently put together, defending a kid's rights after birth is difficult, and getting them to appropriate culture and opportunities, takes a lot of effort for most who are interested to give their child the most opportunity. Of cause, it is clear where it is coming from the legacy of overcoming stereotypes created by IQ tests for minority groups, is at very least a constant battle for the rights of human beings, here in the U.S.A.

Consequently, humans learned that the context of one's life and word choices matter in how one evaluates another human being. The assumption that something is easily understood is only easy when one has experience.

So in the school of Positive Psychology, a different question was developed, that considers word choices, and context of interaction of an adult as a measure on inner and outer relationship with people.

As Heather Craig, summerizies, in the article 17 Emotional Intelligence Tests and Assessments, "The EQ appraisal is a skill-based assessment based on Daniel Goleman’s four-factor taxonomy (Bradberry & Su, 2006). According to Goleman, EI consists of four components:

self-awareness,
self-management,
social awareness and
relationship management." ( https://positivepsychology.com/emotional-intelligence-tests/, accessed 1/5/2022, )

As one considers things like placement for a job or better school. One should consider, that student will take a test it will take up the whole day in human life, and isolate the child from his/her peers. Most human beings today still do not feel comfortable with more tests, than already present, but we do have lots of tests available to people to take for work and certification purposes. Some applications guarantee your ability to increase if you practice, and the world is thank god very different than it was at the turn of the 20th century, though, websites https://www.123test.com/iq-test/, like this one confuses people conversation was completely in a different corner.

According to this article Intelligence across cultures, by Benson E., ( https://www.apa.org/monitor/feb03/intelligent accessed 1/5/2022, even though highly criticized tests are still here and we still talking about why they were conducted and why not to conduct them again. In addition, cultural understanding of Intelligence and title suggest intelligence of a culture.

As one looks at the current process for emotional Intelligence tests, according to the website one can take the test for free and spend lots of one's time trying to reconstruct what one has understood about oneself with how the test will praise one.  I have taken simple tests like this one, for self-reflection. In moderation, it is somewhat useful, but more of a Math major, and rather take any tests that measure my current knowledge, of my interests in mathematics and education.

There is a score that one gets, " EQ distinguishes emotional capacity as a distinct type of intellect. The average EQ score is in the range of 90 – 100, whilst the perfect EQ score is 160. What does an EQ score mean? Well, as well as contributing to success, EQ plays a role in everyday life (My Frameworks, 2017)." (Craig H.  https://positivepsychology.com/emotional-intelligence-tests/, accessed 1/5/2022)

Also, the article suggests that there is a correlation between success at the workplace and the score given.

Of cause I do understand humans, it would be unrealistic for me to claim I want to achieve something immediately right now without being given the opportunity. So, would tests facilitate conversation on an opportunity, is that even ethical to say, that test could indicate what if one's motivation really could provide an opportunity to do a great thing in one desired job placement?

If you ask me, and if you want to quantify oneself on different topics, and have lots of scores for lots of different areas, and recommendations for jobs and other opportunities would combine results from different aspects. However one should be careful, numbers only help when they provide evidence of success, when it's human life that has been thrown into night mare, then numbers seem to be a cold wepon against human.
