Week 8 Journal

This last week of the semester has really put together all the information and knowledge that we have been focusing on. I think by learning about the market feasibility as well as the build feasibility were the last two steps in understanding how to best bring a meaningful product to the market. I think what I learned from these processes is how many different questions you need to think about, there are many scenarios that can occur depending on where you decide to launce a product and not all of these are easy to think about, however they are all important to address.

When I think back to my original idea, the children’s wheelchair, I realize that as simplified as I wanted to make this product for families and children in Sierra Leone and other communities in Africa, making something for an audience in developed countries like the United States is very different than doing the same task in a still developing area. There are many facilities and materials that are not always easily accessible. The goal is to develop a product that will be the best fit for a certain area and the members of that community. I think that a good way to get this information is by interacting with the people to be able to understand not only what they have available to work with but also what goals and needs they are looking to solve. By better understanding the problem, I think that it is easier to build a solution that will be useful and successful.
