Week 8 Journal

This week we learned about both build and market feasibility of a medical device. In the lecture we learned about the barriers to developing and adapting technologies for global health purposes. We also looked at a diagram that described the feasibility of local production. Finally for the assignment for this week, we answered a number of questions for both build feasibility and market feasibility of our product and included the information in our final project. This week we also finished working on our final project and submitted it for peer review. It was fun to design an advertisement poster for our project, and the written essay didn’t take as long as I thought it would.

Overall, I really enjoyed this class and was able to learn about a subject matter that I would normally not have learned about from my ECE and CS classes. In my opinion, the class had the right amount of work per week, and I never felt overwhelmed. The lectures were short, to the point, and were fairly interesting. It was both interesting and sad to learn about the healthcare situation in Sierra Leonne and West Africa. Overall, I’m glad that I took this course, and I feel as though I learned a lot from it.
