Example of an intelligence test

Mensa test

Mensa is an international organization founded in 1946 in England with the aim of bringing together people with a high IQ. To become a member of the Mensa organization, a person must score in the top 2% of the population on a standardized intelligence test.

The test lasts 40 minutes and includes 36 logical tasks. All problems consist of a 3×3 matrix of simple geometric figures, of which the last field (in the lower right corner) is empty.

The goal is to find an adequate solution that would complete the logic of the matrix, by choosing one of the eight offered answers instead of an empty field, and the increasing complexity of the problem is present, from simpler to more complex.

The test is designed in such a way that it does not take into account cultural differences, language skills, level of education and the like. Mensa states that there are no negative points.

The result on the test that qualifies a candidate for membership in Mensa can only be achieved by the top two percent of the total population.

Since the goal is to gather people with a high IQ, the assumption is that people who have not taken intelligence tests and whose IQ is unknown, will not take this test. There is also an age limit, those younger than 17 cannot take the test.
