assessment to identify where the learner is at the time of administration. This will help those who are struggling thereby eliminating the inequalities in learning as it recognizes individual abilities as they learn at their own pace
Standard-based assessments assume that every learner can reach the set standard as he or achieves the goal at his own pace and unique learning style. The goal may be achieved on his timetable & style but as long as the objective is attained, the process was a success. In the norm-referenced assessment, students can be compared against each other. The criterion reference would assess if the students have attained the learning criterion such that the proper assistance might be given to those who are not yet proficient and recognize the proficiency of those who have gotten there.
The diagnostic, formative & summative assessments are given at different times for a purpose. If given before, both the teacher & learner see what the student already has and what he needs to learn. When given during the process, feedback so that needed help will be given. The summative is a retroactive process as it evaluates what the student learned in the process. Whenever the assessment is given, it will help both the teacher & the student to better perform.
The result of assessments to learners is the proper diagnosis of what one knows already, how he is performing & what he achieved after the process. In all these, it is meant for the betterment of the student's performance & the teacher's growth as a mentor.
