Abstract

Child obesity remains a serious health condition in the US and abroad. Despite efforts to reduce the prevalence of this health condition, statistics continue to show that significant percentages of children suffer from being overweight and from obesity. Understanding this, assessing current research evidence to best guide child obesity prevention and management is important. As a cornerstone of these efforts, child obesity educational programs require ongoing evaluations of efficacy and cost-effectiveness. With this in mind, a literature review of the current research evidence is provided as it relates to child obesity educational programs. Best practices as well as research gaps will be defined in an effort to better guide future investments in prevention, intervention, and research.
