Abstract

This study identified the differences and similarities between bilingual programs in three private bilingual preschools in Bogota, Colombia. It analyzed their teaching techniques and how they influenced the quality of education. In this context, “quality” is referred to as the practice of assessing and comparing a service as means to improve or upgrade it. Additionally, teaching techniques, expectations, motivation, ethics, and teachers’ actions that guaranteed the success of the educational process were studied. Findings evidenced that institutions shared similar pedagogical and teaching methods but differed in their learning goals and strategies in the classroom. One of the schools implementing the bilingual immersion program displayed the highest quality of linguistic results, allowing us to conclude that the skills acquired by its students would only require maintenance throughout their academic lives in subsequent degree programs.
