Abstract

The study aims to explore how Asian EFL teachers and students think about foreign language learning. Participants are 23 English teachers and 197 students in a national university in south Taiwan. The Belief about Language Learning Inventory (BALLI) (Horwitz, 1988) was adopted as the research instrument and all available data were processed by SPSS Findings show that some mismatches do exist and it’s suggested that teachers be aware of it and try to bridge the gap in foreign language teaching and learning.
