MOOCs

The global crisis that occurred due to the outbreak of COVID-19 changed the concept of traditional education to move towards open education, which has become an urgent necessity at the present time.

The expansion of technology has resulted in open learning, flexible learning, and remote education. The qualities of flexible learning overlap with those of open learning and distance education, but I believe their aims are distinct. The goal of open learning, such as MOOCs, is to distribute information globally. The approach of freely sharing knowledge on the Internet has given the public an additional opportunity to be educated (although the platform later began to charge fees for certificates of completion). Remote learning is a method of overcoming the challenges of educational location and timing.

Several studies show that flexible learning may now be adaptable in many aspects, including time, context, admission criteria, instructional technique, evaluation, resource and support, and course orientation or aim. Technology is an important component in flexible learning, but it is not the only one. Flexible learning may assist students in overcoming a variety of challenges, and its goal is to enable students to better absorb knowledge based on their own requirements, which is known as student-centered learning. As a result, one of the benefits of flexible learning is that it is tailored to the requirements of the learners.

Moreover, while this does not imply that just adults require flexible learning, I believe it does imply that adults are an essential group of learners who require flexible learning since they must constantly update their abilities during their fragmented time. One of the 21st century's abilities is the ability to adapt to a variety of difficulties and professions. As a result, one of the additional benefits of flexible learning is that it may prepare students to deal with a changing environment.
