Abstract

The information on the World Wide Web (Web) provides a valuable resource base that can be utilised for educational purposes. This paper describes a teaching method, titled the Resource Retrieval Process, which focuses on students accessing the Web outside classroom time to locate relevant legal and non legal material associated with key taxation law cases The retrieval process is designed around the identification of significant aspects of the factual story described by the court in its judgment. Students are then assigned to investigate the historical and social aspects of the relevant parties through various Web pages. This information is then discussed back in the classroom in light of the legal reasoning used by the court in reaching its decision.
