Abstract

The very core of human existence has always been technological. From the earliest stone implement to the present day space station, technology (the systematic methodology that combines the concept of art, technique, and knowledge) has been a dominant force of the human condition. If technology is determined by a reasoned application for the practical purpose of achieving appropriate and satisfactory results, why are there such ethical dilemmas facing our technological advancements? This paper will address the issues of knowledge, ethics, art, and technology as they have evolved over time. Using specific examples, I will suggest that technology is the essence of humanity.
