Abstract

There is no doubt or hesitation that the status of women in Saudi Arabia has been controversial for a very long time. Women’s status in Saudi Arabia as an Islamic country is often, if not entirely misunderstood. Saudi Arabia has been under so much pressure from the West concerning women’s rights and their subordination in this country. The problem with women’s rights in Saudi Arabia is usually traced back to either religions, tradition, or a combination of both, when in reality it’s neither of them. It is the extremist, fundamentalist ideology that has invaded the country and caused major influences on the ideas, beliefs, and lifestyle of the Saudis. That, however, has changed now, and women’s position in Saudi Arabia is looking towards a much brighter future.
