Abstract

HIV/AIDS has become a real disaster that is ravaging human lives around the globe. The realization of the fact that sports and counseling are some of the greatest avenues to reach out to a large population of people that make it an important instrument for mobilization of Nigerian youth against the spread or HIV/AIDS. Also, various social mobilization strategies and techniques are discussed in relation to sports and counselling which were focused on the control of HIV/AIDS. In this paper, the preponderance of HIV/AIDS was examined in sport participation using counseling as social technique. The vulnerability to HIV/AIDS infection comprises physical, biological, social, cultural, psychological and economical factors were discussed.
