Abstract

With the current global pandemic, Filipino students had to transition to online learning. This transition posed concerns and challenges to Filipino students enrolled in online learning. This study assessed online learners’ academic motivation and satisfaction. A total of 350 college students were chosen to participate. The five constructs of the MUSIC model—empowerment, usefulness, success, interest, and caring—and the five quality matters of Aman’s Satisfaction instrument were used to identify the factors that contributed to academic motivation and satisfaction. This research also investigated the connection between academic motivation and student satisfaction, and gender differences. The results show a moderately high level of motivation with a mean of 3.74 and a moderate level of satisfaction with a mean of 3.40. Furthermore, the results also show a strong positive relationship between the motivation and satisfaction of students. As for gender differences, results show that female students are more motivated and satisfied than male students.
