Abstract

Logic and story have traditionally been considered incompatible. However, in this study, they are combined in the new paradigm of logical-narrative thinking. The author suggests that logic is the common foundation between rational arguments and rhetorical stories. This assertion is based on a theoretical interpretation using a structure called the Message Construction Cross (MCC), which explains the grammar of meaning making. The new paradigm of logical-narrative thinking has the potential to provide a theoretical basis for bridging the gap between the traditional verbal literacy and the contemporary multiliteracies.
