Abstract

“It is impossible to understand the present or predict the future if we do not know our past before.” This article contextualizes the subordinate role of women in public life from the Hellenic countries, until today highlighting the most significant advances since the emergence of the feminist movement through the historical evolution of a patriarchal model, pointing out some peculiarities of the area Spanish (educational). Thus, the search of our historical roots is a primary objective of this article to understand what cultural heritage, ideological, emotional and social development, strengthen our lifestyles, customs, habits and, above all, to whom we have such a heritage. Moreover, we can understand how they have institutionalized gender stereotypes, and with them, the social role of women in different societies and to determine the achievements and how they continue to work to achieve social equity.
