Abstract

Malaysian civil service, the government engine of growth and social harmony among and within ethnics has struggled with plenty efforts towards efficiency and quality.Those efforts are continously to meet social satisfaction as well as world needs and challenges. The challenges are not only in technology usage but also mind-setting and spirit at work. There are at least two focuses introduced by the government to govern the country and its civil service towards quality in the last three to five years period. They are known as `Islam Hadhari' or civilised Islam approach and The Malaysian Integrity Plan (2004-2008). Thus, this paper will explore the two focuses under four major frames; First, priliminary back ground of Malaysian Civil Service, Second, the importance of good mind-set and spirit at work according to an Islamic perspective, Third, the approach of `Islam Hadhari' and Integrity Plan in governing Civil Service and Finally a conclusion from an interdisciplinary perspectives on civil service and Islam.
