Abstract

Diversity Education is one of the major tools in German state programmss designed to unfold civic action against racism. The author is a professional in this field, has conducted evaluation research on the topic and is currently working on her PHD related to the subject. Drawing on these pracical, theoretical and research experiences this paper explores the potentials and shortcomings of Diversity Education as a remedy against far right wing parties and racism. The article presents some sceptical arguments based on major european-wide qualitative research, an analysis of the contemporary Diversity discourse and empirical findings. Finally the contribution provides perspectives for an altered Diversity education that would meet the fundamental dynamics of racism more effectively.
