Abstract

Since the launching of Universal Basic Education in 1999 in Nigeria, there have been several research projects, conferences and papers ensure sutability. Several areas that could be, and have been, affecting the existing policy in Nigeria are pointed out. Nonetheless, the area of inappropriate practices and their possible effects on UBE has not been explored. It is against this background that this study appraised the possible effects of developmental inappropriate practices such as starting serious academic work at early age (below age six) in achieving the objectives of UBE in Lagos State primary schools and possible solutions were proffered.
