Abstract

The University of Hawaii System (UH System) has one of the most diverse student populations in the USA. The UH has expressed its admissions policy as two pronged: encouraging enrollment amongst underrepresented minorities in Hawaii, and achieving higher retention and graduation rates for the UH System. This paper discusses these goals and presents evidence from the UH System on how these goals are currently being met, strategies for improving these goals, and some possible barriers or challenges to achieving these goals.
