Abstract

Industrial engineering (IE) is among the engineering disciplines that have been introduced relatively recently to higher education in Saudi Arabian engineering colleges. The objective of this paper is to shed light on the history and status of IE higher education in different Saudi universities, including ranking and challenges as well as statistics comparing student enrollment and graduation in different Saudi public and private universities. This paper then proposes how IE programs could participate successfully in the Saudi Vision 2030. Finally, the authors show and analyze the results of a survey conducted on a number of IE students evaluating various academic and administrative aspects of the IE program at King Saud University. Recommendations are offered on ways to improve the IE program at King Saud University.
