A Cause of the Revolutionary War

The Stamp Act was a way for Parliament to raise money. It was a direct tax imposed on books, newspapers, official court papers, and other important documents. The majority of colonists were outraged by the Stamp Act. A reason they immigrated to America was for economic purposes. The fact that Parliament placed a tax without colonial consent and essientially strenghtening their grasp on America's economy was why the Stamp Act was resented by all. The formation of a new government on American soil would be beneficial. They could establish a democratic system which allows the people to vote on laws and government representatives.
