Purpose of the Olive Branch Petition
The purpose of the Olive Branch Petition was to declare of the rights of the colonists while maintaining loyalty to the British. King George refused to read the Olive Branch Petition but then decided to reject the petition. Common Sense was to be the American people's attention to break completely with the government that could produce so corrupt a monarch as King George III. I feel like the Olive Branch Petition can be connected to the present day because instead of the colonists declaring their rights it's the women in this world declarindg the rights they have. The women today are trying to let people know that they have rights like them.
You are correct about the King not reading the Petition and I agree with the point that all the colonists tried to do was to seperate themsleves from the tyrannt and to exercise their natural rights. I also agree that Common Sense by Thomas Paine was a way to vessel the colonists energy to the topic of war. It was great propaganda and really helped out the war efforts. To add on to the present day example, I would also like to add that women also want better pay. It is proven that if a male and female have the exact job, the male is paid better. The woman's march is justified and the economy should treat both men and women the same.
