Imahni Carrington’s Updates
Causes of the Revolutionary War
*Cause: Tea Act
With the Tea Act, the colonist were concerned about paying taxes on the bulk of tea that was being brought in. They were already paying taxes on the tea, but they would being paying the taxes on this new load. My educated guess on how the government would deal with this is that they woild've probably coled the port too, if people resonding how they did, Boston Tea Party. But in generally, I believe that would have raised the tea tax to help the company, and if you didn't pay the tax then you would have a personal consequence, such as jail.
@Imahni Carrington, think about how the government might have addressed a concern like the monopoly associated with tea here.
The colonists were, indeed, angry because they had to pay another set of taxes. I am just confused on why you would think a new American government would make the Americans pay even more on the tax of tea. From my understanding, I don't think a new American government would be on Britain's side because of the oppressive rules they are putting on the American colonists.
