I believe that tha issue that Common Sense was trying to address was that the problem was the English constitution itself. Common Sense was to take the measures away from the specific parliamentary issues. And the issues that Thomas Paine expressesd became very popular for the people. Seeing the Olive Branch Petition, and Common Sense I think that they have similar agreements on independent and what the purpose of the war, which was to gain complete independence from Britain.
