Olive Branch Petition
In the Olive Branch Petition, the author uses very formal lanuage to show that the colonist wanted peace from the king and not the british. A quotation would be "the most glorious and advantagious that ever had been carried on my British arms...exertions" implying how They were taking advantage of contributing during the war that they had with North America. Another quotation would be "in pursuance of their common councils, may be improved into a happy and permanet reconciliation" conveying how the colonists wanted to live happy and have permanent realtions with friends.
A similarity in the rhetoric used in the olive branch petition that is also seen in Common Sense is that both authors use formal language to convey their ideas about the oppression that the British are putting on to them. I feel like they are similar because they were both written in close proximity to each other.
