Using Audiobook as a Curriculum Resource

As mentioned, the usage of curriculum resources in a educational setting is beneficial towards students in order to measure the student's knowledge that they gained during lectures. Other than that, within the use of any physical and technological resources in the modern day, there is also the use of audios and oral resources. Using any audio and oral means is another factor towards students as it can result in participation, retention, and also a way to further improve their literacy.

One example of curriculum resources that correlates with audio meaninng is the use of Audiobooks. Harris (2023) states that Audiobooks is defined as an audio file version from the physical book, wherein someone does a voice recording of the text in a book that you instead listen, instead of reading; Other than that, audiobooks are a word-for-word version of the book. Any audiobooks can be used in our gadgets (computer, phones, tablets, etc.). Usually, acquiring one can be purchased and downloaded as video and digital music in addition of also be bought online bookstores and downloaded audiobooks from public domain sites (Harris, 2023).

When we hear of audiobooks, there are some well-known apps that people use; Google Play Books, Audible, Apple Books, Scribd, etc. As mentioned earlier, purchasing and downloading one solely depends whether its expensive or not, but in general, they are the same price as the print book version. Furthermore, using audiobooks rather than reading the actual printed book also makes an engaging, yet convenient way to learn new information, not to mention it also expands our knowledge base (Conner, 2023). Using audiobooks also has its dimension under the multimodal literacies pedagogy, one of which is the narrative performance, having to analyze the performance aspect can potentially be one valuable dimension, as it brings the characters to life.
