Pierpaolo Campostrini lives in Venice and was educated in classic studies, and he earned an electrical engineering degree from Padua University (IT) in 1985. Early in his professional life, he was a researcher in the field of nuclear fusion and also taught in various universities. Since 2000, he has been the managing director of CORILA, an association of universities and public research bodies for managing research in and on Venice, supervised by the Ministry of Research of Italy. He is also a member of the board for the maintenance of St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice. He also holds a membership position on the management board of JPI Oceans, the Italian delegation in the EU Program Committee of H2020-SC 2, the Steering Group of the BLUMED initiative, and the Monitoring Committee of the INTERREG program Italy-Slovenia. He participated in several EU projects and was the coordinator of the EC-DG MARE pilot projects on MSP in the Mediterranean, ADRIPLAN, and SUPREME. He’s currently a member of the editorial board of scientific journals, ISI-rated.
