Abstract

This quantitative study added knowledge to the sociology of sport by assessing only women in real-life extreme motorsports (n = 162), age 18 to 75 and older, who were also change agents labeled as risk-takers. Subjects completed a survey questionnaire (SMS, RLSS, ROSA, PI’s Likert Scales) and open-ended questions. Descriptive analysis and a Sample T-Test (one-tailed) reported significant results. Two alternative hypotheses were accepted: First, women perceived they have the ability to transfer positive and assertive motivation, behavior, and attitude leadership skills to youth in motorsports. Second, women believe their involvement in male-dominated sports influences youths’ decisions to participate in the same sport. Implications and applications are discussed. Future research is suggested.
