Abstract

This paper presents Eastern holistic theory and practice of health and wellness, which emerged thousands of years ago in ancient China, as documented in the classics of The Yellow Emperor’s Cannon and Lao Zi’s Dao De Jing. The purpose of this discussion is to provide a comprehensive approach to the understanding and promotion of human health and wellness with an integration of our natural environment. This paper will examine the profound philosophical, spiritual, and holistic theories, which have been implemented for thousands of years and have continuously remained effective until today. More importantly, this paper will also include the actual practices from various ancient and contemporary traditions, which will address the imbalance of human energies physically, emotionally, and mentally in a holistic manner. By bridging both theories and practices, this paper will approach health and wellness by connecting the micro (individual) and macro (universe) as ONE.
