Abstract

Change management is a popular way of implementing planned changes in large organizations or businesses. The idea of change management focuses on investment and planning, including the need to get employees on board with a change before it is implemented and to support the change in terms of motivation and cognitive understanding of the need for change. However, research demonstrates that these have largely been developed in the western setting and that culture may directly affect the success of the implementation of the change management model within the business. The following study focuses on why change management models developed in the western setting are poorly suited for application in societies with a high power distance.
