What We Will Witness (New Forms of Acting)
Abstract
Of course there is still experimental theatre in the United States: it happens at universities and conservatories as it does in theaters (though most frequently in small venues in major cities). However, this paper examines why, as a general trend, the art form of acting never developed a strong experimental tradition in the U.S. The future of cutting-edge theatre may be dependent on breaking the tendency to see the actor as interpretor rather than creator.
