Abstract

Social workers seldom use new media to capture the wide diversity of life stories in their encounters with clients. Videography is a field of growing interest and an alternative to documenting social behaviours and research. This article hones in on the use and impact of videography in monitoring non-verbal cues during interactional assessment, feedback and video-mediated recall for social workers through case studies. Results showed that video-mediated recall used in intervention was not significantly effective, but was useful in monitoring non-verbal cues as compared to traditional data collection methods. Future studies on the use of videography in social work that can be generalised beyond the rehabilitation hospital setting should be explored.
