User Acceptance of Learning Technology: The Case of Using Moodle
Abstract
This paper reviews research in communications and marketing, social psychology, management science, as well as information systems, and investigates several models of user acceptance of learning technology. The models reviewed include a consumer behavior model in advertising research, the technology acceptance model (TAM) in information systems, the innovation diffusion model (IDM) in social psychology, and a unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). This paper further proposes an integrative model of user acceptance of learning technology based on the models reviewed and performs an exploratory field study testing the proposed model using a survey instrument among students who used Moodle as a learning technology in their classes. Results shed light on future avenues of research in investigating factors influencing using acceptance of learning technologies.
