Abstract

The GSAE has piloted (2006-2008) the national quality assurance & assessment framework (NQAF) following the general principles of the Common Quality Assurance Framework for VET in Europe (CQAF). According to the Greek framework each Adult Learning and Education Provider (ALEP) designs and implements self-evaluation procedures for its programs following national program evaluation standards and procedures. In addition, audit procedures carried out by external evaluators in all 13 regions of the country to ensure accountability and quality improvement. Finally, GSAE has been engaged in a discussion of developing a National Competency Framework (NCF) to assess learner achievements and performance. Overall six key competencies (i.e. organizational, technical, cultural, personal, civic, communicative) have been developed to assess prior learning as well as to validate the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes adult learners acquire after completing an educational program. This paper will present the responce of the Greek Adult Educational System to the European quality assurance policies.
