Abstract

Lebanon is a diverse country which consisted of both Muslims and Christians. Their history is marred with violence that dated back to the Ottoman Empire in 1500s’. The country also struggled with internal conflicts between the two dominant religions, which resulted in the 1975 to 1990 terrifying and debilitating civil war. Religion beliefs and family values play major roles in this population. Lebanon was on a track for peace and desired to maintain that peace despite the different religious view points that contributed to their past. Are today’s Lebanese Christian and Muslim university age students (18-25 years old) equally tolerant and accepting of each others religious differences? This study seeks to determine whether the university-age generation of Lebanese Christians and Muslims are tolerant of each other’s religious differences.
