Abstract

The data for this study were obtained from 188 students staying in 3 different dormitories at Alaeddin Keykubat Campus of Selçuk University to determine their social backgrounds and problems by using face-to-face questionnaire technique. There are 4932 students in total in these dormitories. Statistical analyses of the data gathered from the polls have been realized by SPSS 15.0 pack program. In order to examine the effect of students’ social problems on their levels of success, the analysis of “Pearson Correlation” has been employed between arithmetic averages of the participants’ grades and their levels of pleasure with the dormitories. In addition, the analysis has also been employed between the participants’ lessons they failed and the level of satisfaction with the service groups. In general, respondents were found pleased with the dormitory facilities, and satisfaction didn’t affect the success significantly. The possible reason may be that social structure of the students and perceptions of the problems were different.
