Abstract

Violence in schools is growing at an alarming proportions as seen recently in the students shootings in schools in Russia, Germany and the U.S.A. and this scenario has been a major concern to stakeholders about safety in our schools and the future of learning outcomes. This paper focuses on violence and the types prevalent in Nigerian schools; its probable causes and the effects teaching and learning in the country. It concludes by providing effective learning strategies in producing good students that will be useful to themselves, family and the country.
