Abstract

The Old School Community Garden (TOSCG) is new and developing. It is situated in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia and is looking to be more than a “growing place”, although food security is considered important. Community consultation has informed the development of six grounding aims - a meeting place, a growing place, a learning place, a healthy place, a sustainable place, a beautiful place. These developed aims are revealing of what the community values. This first paper on TOSCG describes and critiques the garden aims and outlines progress in its first year.
