Abstract

The “NeverEnding Story” is one of the most successful and special literary works of recent times. In its plot, topics of special educational interest such as reading habits, the power of imagination, and creativity are highlighted, as well as scenes of particular complexity witnessed in the educational sphere such as bullying. In this article we propose to make a reflexive analysis of the work, establishing analogies and parallels with realities and characteristics of current educational systems. At the same time, we intend to establish different didactic orientations and pedagogical keys to use this piece as an educational resource in the classroom. Therefore, this study has the double purpose of extracting comprehensive keys from the work, and also, to use these keys to design suggestions and tips for teachers. The main findings of this study point to the disconnection that the education system often presents with the real demands of students, and which is reflected in this narrative. Throughout this article we highlight the importance of creativity, the emotional aspect and the value of diversity in the education of children. At the same time, we present different didactic orientations from this book that can be developed in literature, mathematics, physical education or music classes, among others.
