Abstract

This paper examines the assumptions behind the advantages of web based training (WBT) by discussing asynchronous training in relation to adult learning theory specifically self directed learning. There is a strong base of literature regarding general web-based training and separate literature on the effects of self-directed learning. This paper provides a link between these two areas of research.
