Abstract

In this study, the evolution and transformation of accommodation places throughout history, and the classification of hotels, are examined to figure out how the concept of “hip hotel” is developed. Developments in accommodations throughout history have dramatically changed the meaning of both voyage and accommodation. Today, tourism has grown with the help of new technologies and developing communications and it has become very important due to the resulting continuing economic dynamism. The necessity to share knowledge and experience has involved different sectors with tourism and habits have been reprogrammed in accordance with individual wants and contemporary needs. Accommodation has met with new descriptions that are neither common nor standard. Particularly, the need to reclassify accommodation has in time created new architectural jargon which signifies the understanding of location and accommodation. The initials of “Highly Individual Places” have coined the term “HIP” and became the adjective for alternative hotels. This study compares the conceptual, aesthetic and functional analysis of “Hip Hotels” by using some international cases and then evaluating the results.
