Abstract

This study reports on the learning experience of graduate students in the Educational Technology Graduate Program who designed websites such as service-learning projects for local community organizations. Through this community service-learning experience, not only did students obtain solid knowledge and skills in the process of website design and development, but also they learned the value of communication and cooperation. They were connected to the community, and also were able to develop their skills and confidence in problem solving. Findings reveal that students worked on real problems that made academic learning relevant while simultaneously enhancing their social skills, analytical ability, ethical responsibility, self-efficacy, and career development.
