Abstract

The cultural dimension towards urban housing crisis is a new perspective in minimising the effects of urban housing crisis in the developing countries. Moreover, it has a practical function towards developing a framework, in order to inform housing policies. A lot of research has gone into the study of the complexities of the urban housing crisis. However, the experiences and culture of the people in the community has been neglected as a basis of understanding the crisis and also a route to a probable solution to minimise it. This paper investigates the internal survival strategies, concepts and the cultural ideas developed in relation to the general liveability of an urban community immersed in housing crisis using Ajegunle, Lagos, Nigeria, as case.
