Abstract

At a time when all stakeholders consider quality in industrial products to be an acquired right which is rigorously and consciously controlled and regulated, this paper serves as a reflection firstly on the possible definition of quality in an industrial product and then whether we can go from this to a definition of the quality of a project for a design product. Henry Stoll’s definition (1999) of total product quality is used as the starting point and our aim is to follow the trajectory from the “end product” to the “product design” and attempt to put forward and assess possible components of quality in a design project process. Indeed, we intend to reach designed quality through materialized quality assuming that quality is a key part of design project processes which specifically contributes to the quality of the end products that can be experienced at different levels.
