This paper offers a few observations arising out of a study of two old age homes in Kerala, India- with a view to identifying and evaluating the factors that impact the quality of life of the in-mates; with some suggestions for improvements. The study adopted the action-research methodology. We documented their problems; the role played by the authorities, and assessed the degree of fulfillment of their needs and wants. We considered the material facilities and emotional well-being and associated support systems. We found that ‘love and affection’ has the biggest impact. Seniority homes are "home-far from home"; and have an awesome open door and additionally obligation in taking fitting consideration of the elderly. The organizations under study convey laudable administrations inside their limits. We trust that the perceptions and recommendations would be helpful in moderating the issues presently confronting these homes all over India and somewhere else.
