Abstract

Awarded by the United States National Science Foundation as one of only sixteen projects in the NSF Academies of Young Scientists, Project WetKids will provide a fully replicable model through its integrated sciences and arts content and interdisciplinary research approach led by a multi-discipline investigative team at The University of Southern Mississippi in collaboration with the Pascagoula School District and the Mississippi Audubon. Multiple forms of Project WetKids data were collected and reviewed during the first year of the two-year project relative to (a) student attitudes and achievement in pursuit of STEM learning and (b) teacher quality and attitudes towards collaboration and STEM interdisciplinary curricular activities. Results to date indicate students’ higher satisfaction than control group students in overall feelings about teachers.
