Abstract

Contemporary Art is a plural, diverse and dynamic form of expression. This is especially interesting in a country like Venezuela where interculturalism is an equalitarian right guarantied in the constitution and hybridization is a characteristic of the culture. The objective of this paper is the interpretation and comprehension of the contemporary Art of Maracaibo, an interdinal city of Venezuela, as a socio-cultural construction and of truly “poesies” spaces and where an imaginary of the presence of the complex human being is shown. The case studies presented, will allow discussing the tension between acquired signs from the globalization and their local identities, influences of transcultural experiences, the local references and personal experience, and the relation of geography, landscaping, social context, cultural diversity and economics of Maracaibo art contemporary.
