Abstract

One of the goals of global education is the provision of Education for All in order to achieve a vibrant society with recognisable development; socially, politically, and economically. Literacy is one of the key tools of language development; hence cognisance is given to reading and writing skills. The introduction of mobile phones in Nigeria in 2001 brought about a change in the educational development of a majority of Nigerians. This study explored opinions of Nigerians on the influence of e-mobile texts on the literacy level of the Nigerian semi-literates. Data collected via face-to-face and telephone interviews were transcribed and analysed while suggestions were made in view of the findings.
